General FAQ's about the products of Coollaboratory

For what I need a heat conduction paste or -pad?
Elektronical components like processors produce especially under load partly a very high performance deficit, which is dispensed as heat to the environment. With the use of cooling elements this heat is absorbed and finally deliverd to the circulation air. But the contact between the cooling element and for instance the processor is mostly not optimal for the heat transfer. In that case the heat conduction paste helps, which is applied between the cooling element and the heat source (for example the processor) and thus the heat transfer is improved. Until today a majority of the producer offers mixtures made up of silicone, metaloxide and other compounds. But these are only useably as heat conduction pastes by reason of the better heat conductibility than air. The heat conduction pastes and pads of Coollaboratory have a clearly higher heat conductibility and contain no non-metal materials at all.
Why the Liquid Pro or the MetalPad?
The products of Coollaboratory are towards the current stand on the market the best heat conductors for the discharge of the loss heat at electronical elements, for instance a processor. In comparison to the hitherto reference paste you reach by using the Coollaboratory products - for example the Liquid MetalPad - on avarage 4 - 7 °C lower and therefore better temperatures.
Which restrictions are there by using the Liquid Pro?
The heat conduction paste is optimized especially for the computer and industry range and takes high-quality contact areas for granted. These can be for example out of copper, silver or nickel. The use of aluminum is not possible by using the paste. Possibly it can be after longer use, that the liquid metal alloys in a minor degree with the contact areas. Dies weist darauf hin, dass das verwendete Metall nicht hochwertig genug war - bitte lassen Sie sich hier nicht von Werbesprüchen wie "aus reinstem Kupfer" täuschen. Viele Hersteller von Kühlern setzen aus Kostengründen nicht auf 100% Qualität bei der Wahl der Materialien.
Which restrictions are there by using the Liquid MetalPad?
The Coollaboratory Liquid MetalPad is unlike Liquid Pro at normal air temperature solid and can be used with every high-quality metal - so also on heat sinks out of aluminum. When installing the Liquid MetalPad is melting by heating the heat sink, by what it gets in the smallest unevenness of the contact surfaces and improves the heat transfer enormous.
Conduct heat conduction pastes / pads of Coollaboratory the electricity?
Yes, because they are composed of 100% of high-quality metals. But the electrical conductivity constitutes absolute no problem in the industry- and PC segment, insofar you act on provided manual by using the Liquid Pro or the Liquid MetalPad.
Are the products of Coollaboratory toxic?
No! The products of Coollaboratory contain no mercury and no toxic heavy metal, as for e.g. lead or cadmium. They are non-toxic, not inflammable, not explosive and it forms no vapors.
Are the products of Coollaboratory RoHS conform?
Yes! The products of Coollaboratory perform the strict obligations. On request we gladly send the corresponding declarations and data sheets.
Why I need such little liquid metal?
By using the products of Coollaboratory already very slight quantities are enough. Using a processor with headspreader an amount of a half rice grain suffices.
Is there a use-by date for products of Coollaboratory?
No, the liquid metal has no use-by date. Storing the Coollaboratory Liquid Pro it is important to see that it is always closed airproof. By using liquid metal the physical condition changes after a while from liquid into solid, if so this improves the performance minimal. Also then the liquid metal needn´t be renewed regularly!
How can I remove the liquid metal?
The Coollaboratory Liquid Pro can be removed best with polish pastes or a metal grinding pad. Alcohols or similar active ingredients are absolutely unsuitable, because these are not effective by removing metals. Please notice that the liquid metal gets in the smallest unevenness of the contact surfaces and therefore supplementary improves the heat transfer enormous. Therefore it is not urgent necessary to remove these residues.
